Why might someone consider speaking with a counselor?
There are many reasons why talking to a counselor can be beneficial. If you're feeling stressed, lonely, anxious, or depressed, a counselor can offer support. It's also helpful when you're feeling overwhelmed, facing transitions, dealing with negative or challenging thoughts, wanting to learn how to set boundaries or help someone else, looking to enjoy life more, or seeking to gain a new perspective.
What should I do if I'm experiencing a crisis?
If you find yourself in a crisis, please go to our Crisis Resource page immediately for guidance and resources.
How can I start the process of seeing a therapist?
To begin, simply fill out the online form, and our intake team will contact you within 1-2 business days. Typically, you'll be matched with a therapist quickly, and an appointment will be scheduled for you within a week.
How can I determine if I'm eligible for services?
Our services are available to young people aged 12-20 who reside in our service areas, including Park, Unincorporated Jefferson County, Clear Creek, and Gilpin County, and who do not require a higher level of care. If we can't match you with a therapist, our intake team will help you find the right support by providing additional resources. Please note, youth experiencing suicidal thoughts are referred to the crisis center or The Second Wind Fund for more appropriate support.
Am I eligible for services if I attend school in the service area but don't live there?
Yes, attending school within our service area qualifies you for our services.
What is the limit on therapy sessions, and what are my options afterward?
You are entitled to 10 free individual counseling sessions and unlimited group counseling. After these sessions, you can discuss with your counselor the possibility of continuing sessions through their private practice, explore support through your insurance, or look into other continuing care options.
Where will my therapy sessions take place?
The location of your therapy sessions can vary. Some therapists offer in-person sessions, others provide virtual meetings, and some do both, depending on what's most convenient for you. Resilience1220 has an office near Buchanan Rec Center in Evergreen, and many of our therapists also have their own office spaces.
How can I join group therapy sessions?
To join group therapy sessions, please refer to our Group & Events calendar. It provides information on how to register and the schedule of upcoming groups and events.

What can I do if I feel my therapist isn't the right match for me?
If you feel your therapist isn't a good fit, you can discuss this with them directly or contact us at the main number. We'll make an effort to match you with someone who suits you better.
Is it possible to see a Resilience counselor if I'm already seeing another counselor?
