Renee Lockhart

Counselor

After spending years in the media industry and volunteerism within her children's school, Renee Lockhart, LPCC, took both her passion for children and young adults, and the desire to give back to her community to complete her Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Adams University.  She is trained in the Violet Oaklander method of Gestalt play therapy and has taken various trainings through the Association of Play Therapy.   With warmth and authenticity, she strives to offer protected and restorative therapeutic experiences, where self-discovery, healing and genuine self-acceptance is possible.  Given the time, space, and healthy environment, she believes everyone has an intrinsic knowledge of what is needed to heal and thrive.

Renee often works with adolescents and teens who struggle with self-esteem, anxiety, obstacles with school, separation or divorce in their family systems, and discovery and processing of neurodivergence.  Through an authentic and caring therapeutic relationship, she uses playful and expressive art activities, games, and education.  She also incorporates various coping strategies, such as cognitive reframing, mindfulness, and somatic practices.  Through these practices and a strong therapeutic alliance, she is continually honored to journey alongside, and witness youth and young adults grow into holistic wellness and increased happiness.

Renee is available in-person and via telehealth. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, her "palace of puppies" (we have 3!), being in nature, cooking, reading, and copious amounts of spontaneous singing or dancing.
